Granular Activated Carbon (GAC)
Granular activated carbon is defined as the activated carbon being retained on a 50-mesh sieve. MJH Carbons produces granular activated carbons designed to meet and exceed the demands from water treatment to gas phase applications.
Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) consist of irregular shaped particles with sizes ranging from 0.2 to 5mm. Granular activated carbons are made by activating the base material directly or after an agglomeration step.
MJH Carbons provides GAC derived from 2 raw materials viz., coal and coconut shell, each available in various 4 x 8 sizes and standard as well as customizable properties. We have the capability to manufacture GAC through steam activation routes. We also offer unwashed, water washed and acid washed grades with tailorable adsorption properties.
They have the advantages of being harder and more long-lasting than powder activated carbon (PAC), clean to handle, purify larger volumes of gas or liquid of a consistent quality, and can be reactivated and reused many times.
Granules Activated Carbon is widely used in drinking water, industrial water, brewing, waste gas treatment, decolorization, desiccant, gas purification, etc.
Features & Benefits:
The adsorptive capacity of granular activated carbon makes it ideal for removing a variety of contaminants from water, air, liquids, and gases to improve taste, odor, and color. Typical GAC applications are municipal and environmental water treatment, waste gas treatment, mercury removal in industrial gases, food and beverage, metal recovery, and even medicinal use. Additionally, various particle sizes of GAC is optimal for use in vapor and liquid adsorption applications. GAC is also an environmentally responsible product that can be reactivated through thermal oxidation and used multiple times for the same application.
By varying manufacturing conditions, internal pore structures are created by imparting unique adsorption properties specific to each product type. The choice of product for a specific application will vary due to differing impurities and proprietary process conditions.
